Set up and troubleshooting.

Plain steps to fit your kit, and fixes for the common problems.

Written from the printed manual for the Aura solar kit. Got a Sentinel or Guardian? Follow the printed manual in your box, and email us if you get stuck.

Before you start

  • The sensors come already paired to the screen. There's nothing to pair.
  • Each sensor has a position label, like front left or rear right. Match the label to the wheel.
  • Turn the screen on first, then fit the sensors.
  • You'll need the small wrench from the box and some soapy water.

Fit the sensors

Do each wheel in turn.

  1. Step 1: Unscrew the dust cap from the valve.
  2. Step 2: Fit the anti-theft nut onto the valve.
  3. Step 3: Screw on the sensor whose label matches that wheel.
  4. Step 4: Tighten it with the small wrench from the box. This locks it on.
  5. Step 5: Check for leaks: wipe soapy water over the sensor and valve. No bubbles means it's sealed.

Setup is done when every wheel shows a pressure and a temperature on the screen.

The screen

  • It charges from the sun. If its battery runs low, charge it with the USB cable.
  • If the car hasn't moved for a while, the screen goes to sleep. It wakes when you drive.
  • Set your own high and low pressure alarms from the buttons on the screen. Your printed manual lists the exact buttons for your screen.
  • You can switch between PSI and bar.
  • Don't change settings while you're driving.

The booster

The booster (also called a repeater) strengthens the signal from the van’s sensors to the screen in the car. It comes in the Aura A6 Tow Pack. For Guardian it’s an add-on: get it with your kit or on its own later.

  1. Step 1: Mount it on the van, about 1 metre off the ground and roughly in the middle. Our instruction sheet marks the front of the van, near the drawbar.
  2. Step 2: Connect the red wire to the positive (+) terminal of the vehicle power supply.
  3. Step 3: Connect the black wire to the negative (−) terminal of the vehicle battery.
  4. Step 4: Listen for three quick beeps (di-di-di). That means it's installed correctly.

Not confident with wiring? Have an auto electrician connect it.

Alarms

Fast leak
It beeps when a tyre is losing air quickly.
Low or high pressure
A tyre is below or above the alarm level you set.
High temperature
A tyre is running hot.
Screen battery low
Charge the screen in the sun or with the USB cable.
Sensor battery low
Change that sensor's battery (steps below).

When an alarm sounds

  • Pull over somewhere safe, then check that tyre.
  • Pressure and temperature rise a little once the tyres warm up on a drive. That's normal.
  • The system can't warn you about sudden tyre damage, like a blowout from a hit.
  • A TPMS is an extra set of eyes. It does not replace checking your tyres by eye and with a gauge before you drive.

Change a sensor battery

The screen shows a low-battery warning for that sensor.

  1. Step 1: Take the sensor off the valve.
  2. Step 2: Open the sensor with the wrench from the box.
  3. Step 3: Swap the coin battery for a new one.
  4. Step 4: Refit the anti-slip gasket and screw the sensor back together.
  5. Step 5: Screw it back onto its valve and do the soapy-water leak check again.

Factory reset

Press the left and right buttons on the screen at the same time. This puts the screen back to its factory settings.

Troubleshooting

No reading from one tyre
Check the sensor is on the wheel its label names. Tighten it with the wrench. Still nothing? Change its battery.
No reading from any tyre after fitting
Make sure the screen was switched on before you fitted the sensors. Then take a short drive so the sensors wake up.
The screen is blank
Charge it in the sun or with the USB cable, then turn it on. It sleeps when you park to save power and wakes when it senses movement.
Why does a tyre read 0?
The sensor may be off or its battery flat. Make sure it's screwed down firmly so it presses the valve pin.
A sensor dropped off the screen. Why?
Usually a flat sensor battery or interference. Try a fresh battery first.
Why is it beeping?
It's warning you: a leak, low or high pressure, high temperature, or a low sensor battery. Pull over when it's safe and check.
