Internal sensors.

Internal sensors sit inside the tyre, out of sight. We quote each one by email, so tell us your rig and we’ll come back with a price.

What internal sensors are.

An internal sensor is fitted inside the tyre, usually held on the valve. Like an external sensor, it reads the pressure and temperature of its tyre and sends them to a display. Nothing screws onto the valve, so you add air the usual way. It is also out of the way of knocks, mud and light fingers.

Internal or external?

External sensors

  • Screw onto the valve
  • You fit them yourself, no tyre shop
  • You swap the battery yourself
  • Move them if you change vehicles

Internal sensors

  • Sit inside the tyre, out of sight
  • A tyre shop fits them and balances the wheel
  • The battery is usually sealed, so the whole sensor is replaced
  • Nothing on the valve, so you add air the usual way

How it works.

  1. Tell us your rig. Your vehicle or rig, how many tyres you want watched, and what you have now.
  2. We email you a quote. We reply by email with a quote for your rig.
  3. Take the wheels to a tyre shop. The tyre comes off the rim, the sensor is fitted inside and the wheel is balanced.

Good to know.

  • The wheel needs balancing after the sensor is fitted, because the sensor adds weight inside the wheel.
  • The battery is usually sealed, so when it runs down the whole sensor is replaced, which means another trip to the tyre shop.
  • External sensors screw on with no tyre shop, if you'd rather fit them yourself.

Questions

What is an internal sensor?

A sensor that sits inside the tyre, usually held on the valve. It reads pressure and temperature like an external sensor, and it's out of sight.

Who fits internal sensors?

A tyre shop. The tyre comes off the rim, the sensor goes inside and the wheel is balanced.

Can I change an internal sensor's battery?

Usually not. It is usually sealed, so the whole sensor is replaced. That means another visit to the tyre shop.
