Can I leave the sensors on permanently?
Yes, Flatmate sensors are designed for permanent installation, giving you safety data on both your daily commute and long road trips.
Should I remove them when washing my car?
Standard washing is perfectly fine, just avoid blasting the Flatmate sensors at point-blank range with an industrial pressure washer.
How often should I check the display?
The beauty of Flatmate is that you don't have to; just drive normally, and the system will actively alert you if something goes wrong.
What should I do if a sensor looks damaged?
If a sensor takes a direct hit from a rock, inspect it for cracks. Flatmate makes it easy and affordable to order a single replacement.
Does the system drain my car battery?
Not at all. The Flatmate display runs entirely on its own solar-recharged battery, completely independent of your car's electrical system.
How do I store the kit if I sell my car?
Simply unscrew the Flatmate sensors, grab the display, and put them in the glovebox of your new car—it transfers in minutes.
Can dust get inside the sensor?
No, the Flatmate design features a sealed electronic housing that keeps fine dust away from the battery and transmitter.
Do I still need to carry an air compressor?
Yes, Flatmate warns you that you are losing air, so carrying a compressor ensures you can re-inflate once you plug the leak.
Is it normal for the screen to turn off while driving?
It shouldn't; the Flatmate vibration sensor keeps it awake while moving. If it turns off, it simply needs a quick USB charge.
Some Flatmate units do have a build in sleep mode to save power, while still monitoring your car tyre pressure.
